Abstract Biodiesel is a renewable fuel and an environmentally friendly product from plant or animal sources, it can be made from vegetable oils, such as soybean oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, l palm oil, as well as other sources such as animal fats or waste oils. It is mainly used as a substitute or blend with conventional petroleum-derived diesel. The process of producing biodiesel is called esterification or transesterification. Biodiesel has several advantages over conventional diesel such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and its insignificant impacts on the environment due to the fact that it is biodegradable. This work concerns the production of biodiesel from used oil by transesterification, carried out in the mining laboratory. | en_US |
