Abstract

This dissertation entitled "Environment Protection and Legal Treatment of Hazardous Wastes in Algeria" examines the relationship of the environment to hazardous waste through legislative concepts and the extent of the impact of environmental pollution on human life. Therefore, preventive management mechanisms should be established to protect the environment from hazardous waste as a main objective targeted by environmental policy to avoid environmental disasters. The study also discusses the effective role of national and local administrations in ways to address the reduction of the spread of hazardous waste on the environment and the role of civil society and associations of environmental nature in this protection. The first chapter is exposed to the main concepts to environment and hazardous disasters in the Algerian legislation; The second chapter aims at discussing the effectiveness of administrative mechanisms for protecting the environment, namely the preventive role of environmental management in both central and local areas, as well as environmental planning in various forms, also the environmental tax incentives, the environmental partnership rules, participation of associations adding to the preventive mechanisms and studies.
