Abstract
This study aims to measure the effectiveness of persuasive appeals in social marketing on Facebook and TikTok, through a field study conducted on a sample of 78 respondents from the University of Tébessa, Department of Media and Communication Sciences. The study seeks to identify the extent to which persuasive appeals (emotional, rational, and moral) influence students’ attitudes and behaviors toward awareness content disseminated on digital platforms, as well as to determine patterns of use and interaction with social marketing content.
The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach, and a questionnaire was used as the main data collection tool. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS v27). The validity and reliability of the instrument were verified, with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient reaching (0.850), indicating a high level of internal consistency.
The results showed that most respondents use Facebook and TikTok on a daily and intensive basis, with entertainment being the dominant motive for use. It was also found that exposure to social marketing content occurs spontaneously and unintentionally during browsing. The findings further revealed that visual content (videos and images) is the most effective in achieving persuasive impact compared to other communication forms, while interaction remains limited and is mostly characterized by passive viewing rather than active participation
