Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the larvicidal activity of the hydroethanolic extract of Ziziphus
lotus against Culiseta longiareolata mosquito larvae, focusing on morphometric and
biochemical changes. The extraction yield of the aerial part of Ziziphus lotus was 24.17%.
Fourth-instar larvae were exposed to sublethal concentrations (LC25 and LC50) of this
plant over different time periods (24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours).
The study included morphometric assessments (neck diameter and weight) and
biochemical assessments (total protein, carbohydrates, and lipids). The results showed that
Ziziphus lotus extracts induce statistically significant changes in both the morphology and
biochemistry of the larvae. Therefore, these data suggest that the hydroethanolic extracts of
Ziziphus lotus may represent an environmentally safe alternative for controlling mosquito
populations.
